Antonio Conte wants Alvaro Morata to continue his good form after he starred in Chelsea’s 4-0 walloping of Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

The Spaniard scored early in the second minute to give Chelsea the lead in the game and despite Stoke’s attacking intent the Blues always had control over proceedings at the bet365 Stadium.

And the Premier League champions doubled their lead when Pedro Rodriguez netted in the 30th minute and they went into half time comfortably two goals ahead.

The Blues continued to control the game and mistakes from Stoke at the back allowed Morata to score a brace in the second half to complete his first hat-trick for Chelsea since joining the club in the summer.

Conte was happy with the controlled performance of his team and was pleased to see that his side never lost their grip over the game despite Stoke’s occasional attacking forays.

The Italian said to the BBC’s Match of the Day programme: "It was a good day, a good result for us.

"Stoke are a really good team and very strong.

"It was very difficult to win here.

"We deserved to win the game.

"We started well and scored early.

"We were in control of the game.

"I repeat it's not simple to win away against them.”

The Chelsea manager urged Morata to keep the good work going following his first hat-trick for the club.

Conte said: "Morata played a good game. [It was] a really good performance.

"Now he has to continue this way to be a great striker.”
