Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright doesn’t believe Anthony Martial is the kind of the player who can last too long with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Mourinho lavished praise on the Frenchman in his pre-match press conference earlier this week and says that the forward has matured and improved as a footballer and as a person since last season.

However, the Manchester United boss shared a difficult relationship with the former Monaco man last year as he was not pleased with his effort and attitude during training or matches.

And Wright doesn’t believe that the bonhomie will last too long as Martial is not the kind of player Mourinho is too fond of as he offers little in terms of tracking back or linking up play with his fellow team-mates.

The former Gunner feels Marcus Rashford offers much more to the team than Martial when he starts games for Manchester United.

On Martial, Wright said on the Premier League TV’s Football Today programme: “When I see him start games consecutively, he just seems to disappear in some games.

“He doesn’t give as much as Rashford gives in a game, whether that is going back or linking up play.

“He just seems to be going wide and everything is about trying to get in with one or two touches and score, instead of linking up play or going back and work hard.

“I don’t see him as somebody who will last too long with Mourinho, I can’t see it.”

Martial has scored four goals and provided two assists in seven appearances for Manchester United this season in all competitions.
