Chelsea teenager Tammy Abraham has denied reports that he will be switching his national allegiance to play for Nigeria in time for the next World Cup.

The England Under-21 international joined English champions Chelsea as a youngster and rose through the ranks to make his professional debut for the club in 2016.

He has not found it easy to break through at Stamford Bridge though and has been sent on loan deals.

The player, who is presently on loan at Swansea City, has played for England at youth level, but Nigeria are increasingly confident he will declare for them at senior international level.

Abraham though insists that he has informed the Football Association about his availability for selection for the England national team and only met the NFF president after Swansea's game against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend as he is a friend of his father's.

"I have informed the FA that I remain available for selection for England", Abraham said in a statement.

"Contrary to reports in the media I would like to clarify that I have not agreed to switch my national team allegiance.

"I can confirm I met the president of the NFF after our last game against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday given he is a friend of my father."
