Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has warned Jurgen Klopp against dropping Simon Mignolet for Loris Karius for the Reds' midweek Champions League visit to Spartak Moscow.

Mignolet was in good form as he saved a penalty and helped Liverpool to a 3-2 win away at Leicester City on Saturday, but there remain doubts over whether he will feature on Tuesday in Russia.

Klopp played Karius in Liverpool's Champions League group stage opener and the German goalkeeper could well play against Spartak Moscow.

But Lawrenson thinks tinkering with the back unit would be a mistake and has urged Klopp to play exactly the same goalkeeper and defence that played at Leicester.

"I seriously wouldn't get that [dropping Mignolet] and I just think that Karius is inexperienced and he's young", Lawrenson said on LFC TV.

"And Simon Mignolet has played really well today.

You just need that continuity.

"I'd keep the back four and Mignolet together because you get used to who you are playing with.

"If you keep changing it you're never quite sure", the former centre-back added.

Liverpool have been criticised for leaking goals on a regular basis this season and despite returning to winning ways at the King Power Stadium, Klopp's men have conceded 12 goals in their last five games.
