Former Chelsea star Frank Sinclair has insisted that the Blues are right in the thick of a title challenge this season.

A slow start to the season meant many felt Chelsea could struggle to retain their league title but Antonio Conte’s men have steadily picked up form over the last few weeks.

And a 4-0 win at Stoke earlier today convinced many that Conte’s team have the legs to be in the title challenge again this term and Sinclair feels the critics have been too swift to write Chelsea off in the race to the Premier League.

He believes that the Premier League champions are as strong as last season.

The former Blue said on Chelsea TV: “When you listen to so called experts we've been written off for the title this year and I'm not buying into it.

“I think we're as strong as we were last season.”

And another former Blue, Jason Cundy, admits that despite his scepticism at the start of the season, he also feels Chelsea are strong contenders to win the title again this term.

He said: “At the beginning of the season I didn't think we could, but after that performance I think we can.”

Chelsea remain three points behind Manchester City and Manchester United, who are occupying the top two positions in the league after six league games.
