Atletico Madrid full-back Filipe Luis has expressed his pride at the club's success in bringing back Diego Costa from Chelsea.

Chelsea's out-of-favour striker arrived in Spain to put the finishing touches to his move to Atletico Madrid on Friday after confirmation from both sides that an agreement had been reached.

Luis, who himself followed the same path, returning to Spain back in 2015, is happy with that his club have managed to secure the deal.

The 32-year-old believes that Costa is among the top three strikers in the world and his addition will help in ways more than one.

While attending a sponsorship event in which Luis's team-mates Koke and Angel Correa were also present, the veteran full-back said: "[I am] proud of the effort to bring one of the three best strikers in the world.

"He comes here to fight, work and make us all better.

"I very happy that my friend is coming back."

Another of Costa's would be team-mates, Koke, took time to highlight the competition for places that the Brazilian is expected to face when he is available in January but said that such prospects will be welcome.

"He knows there is competition and he has to win his position, and that is good for the competition and for the group."
