Liam Cooper thinks new Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen’s calm nature is being reflected in the Whites’ performances this season.

Leeds, who appointed the Dane as their new head coach to replace Garry Monk in the summer, have been in stupendous form in the current campaign.

The Yorkshire giants presently sit atop the Championship table with 17 points from eight games and have the best defensive record in the league, in addition to being the second-highest goalscorers in the division.

And Cooper, who revealed that Christiansen never raises his voice to his charges, feels the 44-year-old’s calming influence is certainly rubbing off on Leeds’ performances.

“He has got a dry sense of humour”, Cooper told BBC Radio Leeds, when asked how Christiansen is as a person.

“He has few of the lads giggling but he is just very calm.

“He’s a calming influence around the players, he never raises his voice or anything like that.

“I think if he did want to do that, he would say it to me or one of the senior lads.

“I just think he’s a calming influence and that definitely rubs off on our performances as well.

“I think we’re playing in a calm way as well.”

Christiansen, who previously managed Cypriot outfits AEK Larnaca and APOEL, helped the latter club to the league title last season.

Leeds will be hoping Christiansen manages to weave his magic at Elland Road as well and help the club to earn promotion back to the Premier League.
