Former Scottish top flight defender Stephen Craigan says that he feels for Celtic winger James Forrest due to the 26-year-old not being able to command a start against Rangers.

The wide-man has been in fine form for the Bhoys this season, but started Saturday's Glasgow derby against Rangers at Ibrox on the bench, being brought on with 21 minutes left.

Forrest scored twice in Celtic's 4-0 midweek Scottish League Cup win over Dundee and Craigan believes the winger will be more than happy with how he is performing.

As such, the ex-Motherwell defender says he feels for Forrest in not being able to get into the team at Ibrox.

Craigan said on BT Sport: "I feel for James Forrest.

"I think he's in as good a form as he could imagine.

"Four goals in two games, then you can't get a game in the side", he added.

Celtic are next in action in the Champions League in midweek when they travel to Belgium for a crunch game against Anderlecht.

Forrest will be hoping Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers opts to hand him a start in Belgium.
