Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hailed Alexandre Lacazette after he scored both goals in the Gunners' 2-0 home win against West Brom.

The Frenchman opened the scoring in the 20th minute after he got his head to a ball and directed it past Ben Foster, who had just tipped Alexis Sanchez's free-kick effort onto the crossbar.

Lacazette's second came in the 67th minute from the penalty spot, something especially sore for West Brom as they felt they should have been handed a penalty in the first half when Jay Rodriguez was brought down by Shkodran Mustafi.

It was a comfortable evening's work for Arsenal as they took all three points and moved up to seventh place in the Premier League on ten points from six games.

Lacazette's strikes mean he has now scored in his opening three league appearances for Arsenal and Wenger believes the summer signing is getting better game by game.

"He gets stronger in every game", he told the BBC.

"Good first touch and movement.

"He is young and just arrived in England. The physical demands are very high", Wenger added.

The Arsenal boss also credited West Brom for challenging his men, particularly in the opening 45 minutes at the Emirates Stadium.

"They pushed us very hard, especially in the first half.

"They disturbed our build up and played a very dangerous and direct game.

"In the second half I felt we controlled the game and did not give anything away", the Arsenal boss said.
