Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has lambasted Pedro Caixinha’s record since becoming Rangers manager and has insisted that the Gers lack quality.

Caixinha has come fire from Sutton since joining Rangers earlier in the year and the former Bhoy has never been impressed by the Portuguese’s assertion that he has the best squad in Scotland.

The Rangers manager came under increased scrutiny on Saturday after his side lost to Celtic in the Glasgow derby at Ibrox and Sutton again sharpened his knives to attack Caixinha’s record at the club.

He feels the Portuguese is pushing towards becoming one of the worst managers in Rangers’ history and insisted that despite all the talk of having the best squad, the Gers lack serious quality in the team.

Sutton said on BT Sport: “Brendan Rodgers has won as many games at Ibrox in the league as Pedro Caixinha.

“This is Pedro Caixinha, who’s pushing Paul Le Guen’s record, which was horrendous.

“There is a huge gap [between Rangers and Celtic].

"You talk about best squad but they are low on quality.”

Rangers are already eight points behind table topping Celtic and will be desperate to win when they travel to the SuperSeal Stadium on Friday night to take on Hamilton.
