Leeds United striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga believes he shares similarities with how Whites head coach Thomas Christiansen operated in his playing days.

Christiansen enjoyed the most successful spell of his career as a striker in the Bundesliga, playing for Bochum and Hannover in the early 2000s.

Now the 44-year-old is in the dugout and responsible for bringing out the best in on-loan striker Lasogga, who is spending the season at Elland Road after moving from Hamburg.

Lasogga is happy to be coached by Christiansen and can see echos of the Dane's game in his playing days in his own style, having seen his now-boss in action in the Bundesliga.

The German told a press conference: "He played in [the] Bundesliga and I have watched [the] Bundesliga all my life.

"There is not a lot of difference between him and me when he played.

"He was also a typical number 9."

Lasogga, who has so far clocked up five appearances and three goals, along with three assists for Leeds, also says he is loving life at Elland Road and is happy he has been able to make a big contribution so far.

"I am so happy that I can help the team with my goals and also my assists and my work on the pitch.

"I love to play every game, I love to play for this club.

"I think it is very important for a striker to come to a new club and to score goals", the 25-year-old added.
