Former Norwegian top flight star Jesper Mathisen believes that Sarpsborg can eventually earn a fee of around £4.7m for Manchester United tracked Krepin Diatta.

Manchester United have scouted the teenage sensation several times this year and the talent is turning heads with his performances in Norway, despite only having signed for Sarpsborg earlier this year.

Sarpsborg have already knocked back an offer of around £1.9m from an unnamed European side and Mathisen believes the club can command a higher sum for the Senegalese.

He told TV 2: "There has been talk about big sums earlier [this year] and this summer. Sarpsborg rejected a bid of 20m kroner from a European club after him.

"I think Sarpsborg can expect to sell Diatta for a minimum of 40m to 50m kroner (£3.7m to £4.7m)", he added.

However, the former Norwegian top flight star is not sure whether Diatta will end up at Manchester United, though he is tipping the attacker to play for a major club.

"Whether he will manage to sign a contract with Manchester United is not certain, but in a few years, Diatta will be playing for a major European club, I have no doubt."

Diatta, who is able to play in midfield and in attack, has turned out for Senegal at Under-20 level, winning nine caps and scoring two goals.

Sarpsborg locked the talent down to a four-year deal when he signed.
