Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen admits he could not have done what Pierre-Michel Lasogga did in keeping the birth of his daughter quiet.

There have been question marks hanging over Lasogga before a number of Leeds games in recent weeks as he awaited the birth of his daughter, which could have meant a swift trip back to Germany.

But Lasogga's partner gave birth on Friday and the striker kept mum until after Leeds had played and beaten Millwall on Saturday.

Christiansen appreciates Lasogga's professionalism, but readily admits if he had been in the striker's situation then he simply could not have helped but let the cat out of the bag.

The head coach told LUTV: "From my point of view it was very nice and it showed how professional he is.

"He didn't want to take the attention away from anyone saying that he has become a dad.

"It was also a difficult situation because if it was in my situation I would be happy, I would show it and I would tell [people about] it.

"But I appreciated that a lot and also he responded with one goal and we took the win, which was important for the team", Christiansen added.

Lasogga is now preparing with Leeds to take on Neil Warnock's Cardiff City this evening and the German will be looking to continue his fine goalscoring form for the Whites, who top the Championship table.
