Former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner has hailed the Bhoys' 3-0 win away at Anderlecht as great for Scottish football.

The pressure was on Brendan Rodgers' men heading into the Champions League group stage clash in Belgium as the two teams have been tipped to battle for third place in the group.

But Celtic were in inspired form and a level above their hosts, winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Leigh Griffiths, a Kara Mbodji own goal and Scott Sinclair.

Bonner thinks the Bhoys turned on the style and the result is great news for the Scottish game.

He also thinks the pressure has been lifted for Celtic's forthcoming Champions League games against Bayern Munich, which the Bhoys can now enjoy.

"I'm delighted that they have put some negative stats to bed", Bonner said on BBC Sportsound.

"The result is magnificent for Celtic and Scottish football.

"They will play better. They struggled to get their passing game going, but Brendan Rodgers settled them down at half-time.

"They could have scored a few more.

"They can go in to those Munich games and enjoy them", he added.

Celtic are now level with second placed Bayern Munich on three points in Group B. Paris Saint-Germain lead the way with six points.
