Spartak Moscow coach Massimo Carrera has revealed that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte gave him advice on how to tackle Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Carrera's side played out a 1-1 draw in their Champions League group stage encounter in the Russian capital and worked hard to keep Liverpool at bay, showing limited intent going forward after opening the scoring.

And the hand of Conte was in part behind how Spartak Moscow approached their game against Liverpool.

Indeed, Carrera has revealed a conversation with his countryman and admits he needed the advice which Conte offered on playing the Reds.

"During the conversation we talked about Liverpool for just a couple of minutes", the Spartak Moscow boss was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

"We more discussed the situation in our teams, personal affairs, vacation, but what he said about the British, I needed."

Carrera turned out alongside Conte during his playing career at Juventus and worked on the Chelsea manager's coaching staff at the same club.

The pair again linked up when Conte took charge of the Italy national team.

Carrera could have headed to Chelsea with Conte, but wanted to kick off his own career as a coach, taking the post at Spartak Moscow in 2016, after a spell on the coaching staff.
