Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp feels his side must remain focused on themselves amid their rivals doing well, with the German offering high praise for Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Klopp's side have been on the receiving end of criticism in recent weeks as defensive woes continue and the Liverpool manager's failure to strengthen his defence in the summer transfer window starting to bite; the Reds have conceded 13 goals in their last six matches.

Liverpool could only draw away at Spartak Moscow in the Champions League in midweek and have now drawn both their group stage games.

In contrast, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal all won their respective European matches.

And Klopp appreciates what Liverpool's rivals are doing, but is fully focused on working with his own men to make improvements.

"We know what we have to do better and that's what we're working on", Klopp told a press conference.

"But what the Manchester clubs are doing, two fantastic clubs, sorry to say this, but fantastic teams, fantastic managers – it is clear that they will do really well.

"Chelsea, still a good side, Tottenham, oh my God, Arsenal on a good way, other teams obviously improving.

"That's the football world, no problem, but the only thing we can do is work on what we are doing", the Liverpool manager added.

Liverpool currently sit in fifth spot in the Premier League standings after taking eleven points from their opening six matches.

The Reds are next in action on Sunday away at newly promoted Newcastle United.
