Former Motherwell defender Stephen Craigan has praised Daniel Candeias' work defensively for Rangers in the Gers' 4-1 win over Hamilton this evening.

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha selected the Portuguese winger in his side at the SuperSeal Stadium and he found the back of the net for the Gers' third goal as he got onto the end of a Graham Dorrans lob and cracked his shot past Hamilton goalkeeper Darren Jamieson.

Craigan was impressed with what he saw from Candeias and has no doubt it is the winger's attacking play which will catch the eye.

But the former defender took particular note of what Candeias did to help Rangers defensively, especially helping right-back James Tavernier.

During the course of the match, Craigan said on BT Sport: "Candeias will get all the plaudits for what he's done in the final third.

"But I must say his willingness to work and get back and help our James Tavernier has been terrific."

Rangers snapped Candeias up from Benfica in the summer transfer window.

He was tested defensively last weekend during Rangers' defeat against Celtic at Ibrox and is continuing to be alive when it comes to helping his team-mates out at the back.
