Former Rangers defender Terry Butcher thinks the Gers board will not easily get rid of manager Pedro Caixinha.

The Portuguese is under big pressure at Ibrox, but eased a portion of it on Friday night when he led his side to a 4-1 win away at Hamilton.

Nevertheless, Caixinha's side have yet to meet expectations and his fallout with veteran striker Kenny Miller, who has been demoted to the Under-20s, will not help matters.

But Butcher thinks that even if Rangers continue to be below par the club's board will not be minded yet to give Caixinha the chop.

The former Rangers skipper believes that sacking Caixinha would be the board admitting they got it wrong in appointing the Portuguese and as such he will be given more time.

"I think the Rangers board will not do anything for some time yet", Butcher said on BT Sport ahead of the Hamilton game.

"They don't want to appear to be fools having signed the wrong man and backed him to the hilt.

"They will take their time no matter what happens.

"So he has an extended period, but how long that period will last I don't know", he added.

The win over Hamilton has taken Rangers up to third in the Scottish Premiership.
