Kevin De Bruyne says there was no element of revenge in his goal at Stamford Bridge, which handed Manchester City a 1-0 win over Chelsea this evening.

The Belgian struggled to make an impact at Chelsea and fell out of favour with then manager Jose Mourinho, who eventually offloaded him to Wolfsburg after a loan spell at Werder Bremen.

He has bounced back with the Citizens and won the Premier League contest at Stamford Bridge for the visitors in the 67th minute after a one-two with team-mate Gabriel Jesus opened the way for a superb 25-yard strike.

Chelsea had no answer and slipped to a 1-0 defeat, with Manchester City drawing level on points with Manchester United at the top of the table and hitting top spot on goal difference.

For De Bruyne, there was no revenge to be had against Chelsea and he stressed that his time at Stamford Bridge made him a stronger player.

"No that's the past. What happened happened and I have no regrets coming here", he said on BT Sport when asked about the win being sweeter due to his Chelsea past.

"It made me stronger.

"I made a decision at the time, Chelsea made a profit on me.

"I am happy with my new team City and I am happy with my team-mates", De Bruyne added.

The Belgium international also weighed in on the game and believes it was a highly tactical affair, which brought out the best in the Citizens.

"I think it was a tactical game and disciplined game from both sides.

"We had more chances, not too many but a little bit more.

"We played tactically a great game, It's a nice win because it's difficult to win here", he said.
