Rangers full-back Declan John has expressed his regret at Benfica's decision to pull out of the Eusebio Cup as he believes that it would have helped the team spirit.

The Gers were scheduled to face the Portuguese side in a friendly match on 6th October, but were recently informed that Rui Vitoria's side won't be able to make the trip to Canada.

John is disappointed with Benfica's decision as he feels that the match would have helped his side in ways more than one.

Coming fresh off a 4-1 win against Hamilton, John believes that the game would have helped Rangers to continue with their momentum and also give them the chance to gel with each other.

“It would have been good for us in terms of bonding and getting more minutes on the pitch", John was quoted as saying by the Herald Scotland.
