Celtic's Dedryck Boyata says that being selected for the Belgium squad feels like a little victory.

The centre-back has missed time this season through injury, but is now back and turning out for Brendan Rodgers' Scottish champions.

Boyata has starred in two notable Celtic victories in recent games, helping the Bhoys beat fierce rivals Rangers 2-0 at Ibrox and then record a stunning 3-0 win in the Champions League at Anderlecht.

The defender's performances have not gone unnoticed and he has been called up by Belgium coach Roberto Martinez.

And the 26-year-old is delighted to have returned to the international fold, chalking it up as a small victory, especially given his injury woe.

"This is important to me.

"I've had to be recovering from injury for a long time, but I've been playing for a few weeks now.

"After my recovery, being picked feels like a little victory", he added.

Boyata has won three senior caps for Belgium and it remains to be seen whether he will be give the chance to add to his tally over the course of the two fixtures.
