Former Leeds United manager Steve Evans is to discuss his future with Mansfield Town after Gillingham made an approach to sign him, according to Sky Sports News.

The 54-year-old Scot led Leeds to a respectable mid-table finish before leaving the club in 2016 and has been in charge of Mansfield since November, with an ambitious project to lead the Stags up the leagues.

Gillingham are looking for a new manager after Ady Pennock left Priestfield last month and the League One club have approached Mansfield to talk to their manager.

It has been claimed that the Scot is considering his future at the League Two club and will hold talks with Mansfield chairman John Radford to discuss the approach from Gillingham.

The Gills are currently languishing just a position above the bottom of the League One table after a poor start to the campaign and are looking to bring in someone to kick start their season.
