Paddy Crerand has claimed that the current Manchester United squad are the best he has seen since the club's treble winning season in 1999.

With six wins in their opening seven league games, Manchester United are being backed to win their first league title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure at the end of the 2012/13 season.

A number of pundits and fans believe Manchester United have one of the strongest squads of recent years and have the strength in depth to manage in Europe and win the Premier League this term.

And Crerand insisted that the current crop is the best squad he has witnessed since the one that lifted the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League at the end of the 1998/99 season.

While Manchester United won eight more league titles and a Champions League after the treble winning season, Crerand conceded that he just enjoys watching the current team play.
