Divock Origi has stressed that he still plans to return to Liverpool at the end of the season, but has indicated that it was unfair to expect a youngster to perform consistently.

The 22-year-old joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan deal in the summer after struggling to get minutes under his belt at Liverpool under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp.

The Belgian has netted a Bundesliga goal for Wolfsburg and indicated that as a youngster he was under pressure to perform consistently, which he feels was unfair for a striker of his age.

He defended his record at Liverpool and believes that despite all the ups and downs, his goal tally for the Reds is not as bad as it has been made out to be.

Origi wants to return to Liverpool once his loan stint ends, but for the moment he is keen to focus on performing for Wolfsburg.

The Belgian striker told Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws: “You can't expect from a youngster to perform consistently.

“It went with ups and with downs.

"I scored 21 goals in two years. Not bad.

"I've learned a lot at Liverpool.

“It's still my plan to return after this season.

"But now I'm focusing on Wolfsburg.”

Origi has started all five Bundesliga games since his move to Wolfsburg and has been getting the regular minutes he craved at Liverpool.
