FIFA have rejected the FA’s appeal to allow Adrien Silva to complete his move to Leicester City from Sporting Lisbon.

The Foxes failed to get the relevant paperwork through in time to complete a move to sign Silva from Sporting Lisbon on deadline day, despite agreeing a fee and terms with the club and the player.

Leicester missed the deadline by a few seconds, but FIFA rejected Leicester’s attempt to get the deal over the line beyond deadline day and Silva’s situation remains in limbo.

The FA intervened and appealed to FIFA to overturn their decision, but football’s governing body have stuck by their original ruling and Silva won’t be joining Leicester soon.

A statement from FIFA read: “We can confirm the following decision of the Single Judge of Players’ Status Committee: the petition made by the Football Association for permission to request the International Transfer Certificate for the player Adrien Silva and subsequently register the player for its affiliated club, Leicester City FC, is rejected.”
