Former Germany defender Christoph Metzelder believes Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is the man a club of Bayern Munich’s size need at the moment.

The German champions sacked Carlo Ancelotti last week after an indifferent start to their season and are on the lookout for a permanent manager with Willy Sagnol currently fulfilling the caretaker position.

Bayern Munich are believed to be in talks with former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel and even Louis van Gaal has been linked with returning to the hot seat until the end of the season.

There are suggestions Hoffenheim’s 30-year-old coach Julian Nagelsmann is Bayern Munich’s long term target, but Metzelder believes that he is not yet ready to take up such a huge job.

Liverpool boss Klopp is also believed to be on their shortlist and the former defender feels the Liverpool manager has the stature and skills to handle a club of Bayern Munich’s size.

"He is a top man-manager and could make the complex power relationship work wonderfully", Metzelder told Sky Sport Deutschland.

"Nagelsmann is an outstanding coach, but Bayern Munich is, of course, a different size [to Hoffenheim].

"From my point of view, Jurgen Klopp would be ready."

Klopp won two Bundesliga titles with Dortmund, but recently signed a new six-year contract with Liverpool.
