Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has preached patience regarding Romelu Lukaku’s ankle injury and admits that they are in constant communication with Manchester United’s medical department.

The striker picked up an ankle injury in Manchester United’s 4-0 over Crystal Palace last week and while scans have not revealed any significant damage, his injury is being closely monitored.

Belgium have already qualified for the World Cup and Manchester United are keen not to see Lukaku aggravate his injury in the upcoming qualifiers, but Martinez admits that a final decision has not been taken.

The Belgian coach stressed that his people are in constant touch with Manchester United’s medical team regarding Lukaku and he is keen to remain patient with the player’s recovery.

“We have to be patient", Martinez was quoted as saying by Het Laatste Nieuws.
