Juventus are hopeful of tying down Chelsea defensive target Alex Sandro on a new long term contract before the January transfer window opens.

Sandro was a priority target for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte in the summer and the Italian was desperate to take him to west London, but Juventus knocked back overtures from the Premier League champions.

Chelsea have been tipped to return for the Brazil full-back in January as Conte presses to sign his top target, but by then Juventus are confident of tying him down to a new and improved contract.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian champions have prepared a new five-year deal worth €5m per season and are hopeful of reaching an agreement by November.

Sandro will be getting a significant pay rise from his current wage package of €2.8m per season and Juventus are confident they will be able to end Chelsea’s hopes of signing the defender in January by tying him down to a new contract by the end of the year.
