Former Germany coach Berti Vogts has warned Celtic that they will be playing Bayern Munich in the Champions League at a bad time.

The Bavarians are in crisis after a run of poor results resulted in the sacking of respected coach Carlo Ancelotti, with the German giants forced to tempt 72-year-old Jupp Heynckes out of retirement to take over until the end of the season.

Celtic face a Champions League double header against Bayern Munich in their group, with matches set for 18th October in Germany and 31st October in Scotland.

The Bhoys may be hoping to take advantage of the turmoil at the Allianz Arena, but Vogts thinks the timing for Celtic to play Bayern Munich is poor.

"I think Celtic has no chance in Munich", the former Scotland and Germany boss told Herald Scotland.

"This really is a must win match for Bayern.

"If they can’t win their matches against Celtic they won’t reach the last 16 so I am afraid that it is just too important to then.

"The new coach has come in so I really think it is a bad time for Celtic to play Bayern.

"In fact, I can see Bayern winning both matches against Celtic, because they know if they win both matches they are through to the next round", he added.

Celtic are currently level on points with Bayern Munich in Group B, with each side having collected three points from two group games so far.
