RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl is not concerned about Naby Keita being below expectations so far this season and is sure that, along with Emil Forsberg, he will get back to his best soon.

Keita was in the middle of a transfer saga in the summer transfer window as Liverpool chased his signature and RB Leipzig refused to allow him to leave.

A deal was eventually agreed to take Keita to Anfield next summer and RB Leipzig are banking on the Guinea international reproducing his form from last term, when he was hailed as one of the finest midfielders in the Bundesliga.

Forsberg was also the subject of interest from other clubs and both the Swede and Keita have so far not yet hit expectations this season.

But Hasenhuttl has no doubt that Keita, and Forsberg, will get back to their best, while he also understands why the pair are taking time to show their best this term.

"The fact is that the preparation of both was interrupted by injuries or illness", the RB Leipzig coach told SportBuzzer.

"Emil is now getting fitter. That's a good sign."

And Hasenhuttl said on Keita: "Naby, of course, did not like the red card [he picked up against Borussia Monchengladbach] because he lost his rhythm a bit and also had to deal with minor injuries.

"Of course, they are still a bit dependent on their own requirements, which are very high.

"What they did last year is not easy to beat.

"Emil was the best provider, Naby had great games.

"I firmly believe that they will find their top performances again after the international games", the RB Leipzig coach added.

Liverpool will be keeping a close watch on Keita as they wait for him to arrive at Anfield next summer, with the Reds keeping their fingers crossed that he avoids serious injury.

Forsberg's suitors, which in the summer included Arsenal, AC Milan and Manchester United, are also likely to continue monitoring the Swedish winger.
