Juan Mata says there is no need to explain how much beating Liverpool means to Manchester United, as he dubbed Saturday's clash between the two most decorated clubs in English football a big game.

The Red Devils are yet to lose a game in all competitions in the present campaign and presently find themselves level on points with league leaders Manchester City.

On the other hand, Liverpool have struggled for consistency this season and are currently seventh in the Premier League standings with 12 points from seven games, seven adrift of Manchester United.

And Mata, who explained that the weekend’s clash at Anfield will be one of the biggest games of the season for Manchester United, is hopeful about his side returning from Merseyside with the full three points.

“We also have to talk about our next Premier League game at Anfield”, the Spaniard wrote on his blog.

“This is one of the big games of the season without a doubt.

“There’s no need to say what it means for us and for our fans, and I hope that we can play a great game and bring the three points back to Manchester.

“We will try to extend our good run of results since the season started.”

If Manchester United beat Liverpool on Saturday then they will be on 22 points, their best ever points tally after eight games of a Premier League season.
