Sevilla president Jose Castro has confirmed that his side remain in the hunt for Arsenal target Sander Berge.

The Norway international was only snapped up by Belgian club Genk at the start of the year, but they found themselves under siege in the summer transfer window as interested teams knocked on their door.

Bids were made for Berge, with Arsenal and Sevilla just two sides keen, but Genk rejected all proposals as they consider the midfielder to be a key man.

But Sevilla have not given up hope of signing Berge and Castro admits that the Norwegian is on the club's list as they plot what further signings to make.

He told Spanish daily Estadio Deportivo: "It is not only Berge, but also more players that are interesting.

"There are several players we have followed for several years.

"We do not know if they will come here, but some of them, like Berge, we have intentions to add [to the squad].

"We do not know if it will happen, but it does not stop us", he added.

Sevilla are a club with no debt, putting the side in a good position to make signings.

Los Rojiblancos splashed out €21m to sign Luis Muriel in the summer transfer window and might need to fork out a similar sum to convince Genk to sell Berge in the new year.
