Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has admitted that he is frustrated with the current scheduling of international breaks and does not agree with the way things are organised.

Since the 2017/18 campaign kicked off, there have already been two international breaks, the second of which is still running, with a third scheduled in November.

FIFA are deliberating over changing the structure of the international breaks by making them longer but fewer in number.

But Caixinha, who feels the clubs are always on the losing end when it comes to international breaks and the calendar could do with changing, believes Rangers must be able to adapt no matter what.

The Portuguese manager went on to add that governing bodies should not forget that the players belong to the clubs and not the national teams.

“Yes, it is a little bit [frustrating]”, he said on Rangers TV, when asked if the current system of international breaks is frustrating.

“But you need to adapt because you know football is changing and the calendar needs to change as well.

“I do remember when I was in Saudi Arabia and in Mexico, along those breaks, sometimes you had to play official matches.

“So maybe one point could go in that direction.

“The biggest teams have more players involved in the national teams so you cannot count those players.

“I don’t agree the way things are organised sometimes as in the end the loss is always of the club.

“We should not forget that the players belong to the clubs, they don’t belong to the national teams.

“But with the way the things are organised, we need to know how to deal with it.”

Rangers, whose last game before the international break was a 4-1 win over Hamilton Academical on 29th September, will next face St. Johnstone on Friday.
