St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has revealed he has been closely looking at the goals his team have been conceding, ahead of Friday night's Scottish Premiership fixture against Rangers.

The Saints play host to the Gers on Friday as club football gets going again after the international break and Wright's men will be keen to put a 3-0 defeat against Aberdeen before the break behind them.

Wright, who has been studying his side's conceded goals, believes that individual errors have been costing his men at the back.

And he is keen to see those cut out against Rangers, with hard work having been done over the break in an attempt to plug the holes at the back.

"We had some time off but we have also worked hard and had the testimonial match with Dundee", Wright was quoted as saying by Evening Times.

"I spent a bit of time looking at the goals we have conceded.

"I can safely say nine of the 11 in the league have been down to individual errors. We could be in an even stronger position.

"But we have made it far too easy for teams to scores against us, especially in the last two away games with Aberdeen and Dundee", he added.

Despite errors in defence, St Johnstone have taken just as many points as Rangers (14) from their opening eight Premiership fixture this term and are only behind the third placed Gers on goal difference.

Wright will be keen for his men to pile pressure on Pedro Caixinha by using Friday's match to overtake Rangers.
