Leeds City Council is to hold discussions on opening talks with Leeds United about the Whites moving their training ground into the city.

The Yorkshire giants currently have their base at Thorp Arch, but have been exploring moving closer to their Elland Road home.

Leeds' intentions are known to the council, who have confirmed in a press release they are to discuss opening talks with the Whites.

The council's executive board will meet on Wednesday and if approval is given, the council will then meet Leeds for talks.

Two potential sites have been identified, with the former home of Matthew Murray High School and Fullerton Park the options under consideration; Fullerton Park could host a Community Sports Village, while a training ground could be at the former high school.

The developments are a further indication that new Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is pushing ahead with plans to leave Thorp Arch.

Quitting the training base for a site closer to Elland Road was favoured by former owner Massimo Cellino and the council's update confirms Radrizzani is on the same page.
