Burnley Under-23 boss Michael Duff believes that his side were worthy winners against Leeds United on Monday night and says the young Whites moved the ball around without hurting his team.

Leeds have a new regime at Elland Road, with a focus on attacking football, and the Under-23s are now bossed by Spaniard Carlos Corberan, who was managing in the Cypriot top flight last term.

Leeds Under-23s have won just once in the Professional Development League under Corberan so far this season and were put to the sword on Monday evening by Duff's Burnley.

The Clarets took the lead in the 64th minute through Dwight McNeil and held on to the scoreline to claim all three points.

Duff thinks his men deserved the win and remarked that Leeds did not hurt his side, despite their ball possession and in-fashion 3-4-3 formation.

"It’s the vogue formation at the moment, the 3-4-3. They played it slightly differently. We’ve come up against it a couple of times and been quite successful", Duff told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"They moved it around well without really hurting us. I can’t really remember Anders [Lindegaard] making a genuine save.

"They had one scary moment when he came out, but every chance they had in the first half we put them in, which shows our lack of quality with the ball, particularly first half.

"Other than that I think we did enough to nick it", he added.

Next up for Leeds Under-23s is a visit from Crewe Alexandra before a crunch match against rivals Huddersfield Town.

Burnley meanwhile face Nottingham Forest before taking on Sheffield United.
