Sporting Lisbon would not take kindly to an approach from Everton for Bas Dost in the January transfer window, it has been claimed.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is keen to boost his attacking options when the window swings back open and has been linked with wanting his countryman at Goodison Park.

But according to Portuguese outlet Noticias Ao Minuto, Sporting Lisbon are not likely to be impressed with an Everton approach for Dost in the new year.

The 28-year-old is considered a key man by the Portuguese giants and has already scored four goals in eight Primeira Liga games this season.

Dost helped himself to an impressive 34 goals in 31 league games last term and Sporting Lisbon are counting on the Dutchman to lead the line all season.
