New Reading first team coach Michael Gilkes has insisted that his side have had a lot of time to study up on Leeds United during the international break.

The Whites, who headed into the back on the back of two consecutive losses against Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday, will next face the Royals on Saturday.

Thomas Christiansen’s team started the season brightly and found themselves at the top of the Championship table after winning five of their opening seven Championship games.

However, Leeds are currently in the midst of a mini slump, having lost three of their last four league outings.

Reading too have been in poor form lately and are winless in their last six games in all competitions.

But Gilkes explained that Reading have had plenty of time to do their homework on Leeds, ahead of their trip to Elland Road at the weekend.

“We’ve had a lot of time to work together”, he told Reading’s official site.

“There have been some players who have been away on international duty and we’ve had a lot of time to look at Leeds, what formation, what their key players are.

“Our preparation can only be as good as it can be, having enough time to focus on that and that’s exactly what we’ve been trying to do, prepare for Saturday.”

While Leeds are currently fifth in the Championship table with 20 points from 11 games, Reading find themselves in 20th spot with just nine points from 10 outings.
