Former Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn has indicated that Whites goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald is a Victor Orta signing, rather than someone identified by head coach Thomas Christiansen.

Wiedwald arrived at Leeds in the summer and was quickly installed as number 1, something which prompted last term's regular custodian Rob Green to agree to terminate his contract and move to Huddersfield Town.

But the German goalkeeper has been in poor form for Leeds, looking unsteady and unsure in his decision making.

Questions are being asked over why Leeds replaced Green with Wiedwald and Redfearn has indicated the signing lies at director of football Orta's door, rather than Christiansen's.

He said on Radio Yorkshire when asked about Wiedwald: "It seems to me now that with the hierarchy Victor Orta has a big say over who comes in or who doesn't come in.

"A lot of the signings that have come in have been from the continent, overseas – which is great if they're good enough."

Orta has been praised for a number of signings Leeds made in the summer transfer window, however the jury is still out on several arrivals.

It is also unclear which players have been identified and signed by the director of football and which have been recommended by Christiansen.

Striker Caleb Ekuban may well be a Christiansen signing as the Dane's former club APOEL were keen, along with Leeds, on signing him from Chievo Verona in the summer.
