Rangers youngster Robby McCrorie insists he was confident that his twin brother Ross McCrorie would handle the pressure of playing in the Old Firm against Celtic.

The young defender has earned high praise from Pedro Caixinha this season and the Rangers manager believes the youngster is the future of the Gers and Scotland in the heart of defence.

The centre-back featured for Rangers in the Old Firm against Celtic last month and while the Gers lost at home, Ross again caught the eye of many with another assured performance.

Robby, a goalkeeper with Rangers Under-20s, admits that it was a proud moment for him and his family to see his twin brother feature in the biggest fixture of the Scottish game.

And he was certain that Ross had the tools to handle the pressure of playing in such a big game for Rangers.

In a Q&A session with the fans on Twitter, the goalkeeper responded to a question on Ross playing in the derby and wrote: “Had a game at 3 so [just] saw the first half.

“[It was] a proud moment for Ross and the family.

“I knew he could handle it.”

The young defender has started the last two league games for Rangers, but with Bruno Alves expected to be fit again for selection, the 19-year-old defender could be forced to wait for more opportunities.
