Sweden coach Janne Andersson has conceded that Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has looked out of match practice for the national team.

The Netherlands scored a 2-0 victory over Sweden on Tuesday night, but it wasn’t enough as the Dutch failed to qualify for the World Cup and the Swedes are still in with a chance in the playoffs.

Lindelof started the game and Andersson admits that his defender looked out of match practice, which he feels is natural as he has not played for Manchester United regularly this season.

He believes the defender is at a stage of his career where he is trying to prove himself at a big club, but was quick to point out that Lindelof got better as the game progressed.

Andersson was quoted as saying by Fotbollskanalen: “Different players are in different stages of their career.

“Vigge is in a phase where he is trying to establish himself in new surroundings, at a new club in a different style of game and he has not played that often.

“I think sometimes you can see that he lacks match practice, but at the same time he was very strong in the second half.”

Lindelof joined Manchester United from Benfica in the summer, but is yet to feature in a Premier League game this season.

He started both the Red Devils' Champions League encounters thus far and has featured in the EFL Cup.
