Arsene Wenger has conceded that Arsenal could consider the option of selling Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the January transfer window.

The duo are running down their contracts, which expire next summer, and there has been little indication that they will be signing fresh deals with Arsenal any time soon.

A deal to sell Sanchez to Manchester City fell through in the final days of the summer transfer window and Ozil found few takers for him during the season break despite recent links with Manchester United.

While Wenger remains hopeful of seeing the duo sign fresh contracts, Arsenal are running the risk of losing millions in terms of transfer fees by allowing them to leave on a free transfer next summer.

And the Arsenal boss admits that if by January the situation doesn’t change, the club could consider selling Ozil and Sanchez in the winter window.

Asked if Arsenal will consider selling Ozil and Sanchez in January, Wenger said in a press conference: “Once you are in our kind of position, you envisage every solution.

“Yes, it’s possible.”

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Ozil next summer and Sanchez is still believed to be a target for Manchester City.
