Neil Redfearn has advised Leeds United to bring Ronaldo Vieira into the team for Saturday's Championship clash against Reading at Elland Road.

Vieira was lauded for his accomplished performances in midfield for Leeds last term as then Whites head coach Garry Monk handed him regular game time in a team chasing promotion.

But the young midfielder has struggled to win over new head coach Thomas Christiansen, who has often preferred other options in the centre of the park.

Leeds have lost three of their last four Championship away games and Redfearn feels that the Whites have lacked a physical presence in midfield, which Vieira could provide.

And the former Leeds head coach thinks Vieira should come back into the team.

"I would definitely go with Vieira", Redfearn said on Radio Yorkshire, looking towards Leeds' game against Reading.

"I think he gives you athleticism and physical presence and it's something that Leeds have been missing in recent times.

"And particularly if you're going to play [Pablo] Hernandez, [Ezgjan] Alioski and [Samu] Saiz as well.

"If you play those three then you need to bolster the two in midfield.

"You need to be a little more robust in those central midfield areas and more physical."

Vieira has played just 54 minutes of football in the Championship this season, however he has featured in all three of the club's EFL Cup games so far.
