Former Leeds United boss and head of academy Neil Redfearn feels Whites youngster Jamie Shackleton is ready to make his senior debut for the club and believes it could also lift the mood inside the dressing room.

The 18-year-old central midfielder is considered one of the bright sparks of the Leeds academy and has generated excitement amongst the fans with his performances for the Under-23s.




Redfearn has long been a fan of the young midfielder and believes Shackleton is more than capable of making his bow for the senior team this season. He also believes it could be a major fillip for the squad as well.

He pointed out that youngsters sometimes force senior players to come out of their slumber and train harder, while taking the level up for everyone by a notch as they are desperate to get noticed.
 


“The thing young players are, is that they are infectious", Redfearn said on Radio Yorkshire.

“They make people want to train, they bring the level of everything up because they are desperate to do well.

“Jamie Shackleton is more than capable and he is somebody I have got high hopes for.”

The youngster has been continuing his development this season and could be in line to make his debut for the club at some point this term.
