Arsene Wenger doesn’t believe Jack Wilshere has to leave Arsenal in January to boost his chances of playing in the World Cup for England next summer.

Wilshere is gradually returning to the Arsenal fold following recovering from an ankle injury and has played in the Europa League and the EFL Cup this season for the Gunners.

The Englishman was on the bench in Arsenal’s last two Premier League fixtures and Wenger believes the 25-year-old is playing some of the best football of his career.

However, many feel to return to the England fold and fly to Russia next summer as part of the World Cup squad Wilshere needs to be playing week-in-week-out and could have to leave Arsenal in January to offer himself the opportunity.

But Wenger doesn’t believe that is the case and he is certain that if Wilshere continues on his current path at Arsenal, he will be part of the England squad next summer.

The Frenchman said in a press conference: “I believe Jack at the moment is in the best form I have seen him for a long time, he is very close to being considered like anybody else.

“He doesn’t have to leave Arsenal to be at the World Cup.

"If he keeps going like he is at the moment he will go to the World Cup.

“I don’t see how a fit Jack Wilshire won’t go to the World Cup.”

Wilshere has 34 England caps to his name, but has not played for the Three Lions since the European Championship last year and has not been part of a squad since November last year.
