Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is unlikely to take charge of Oldham Athletic, according to BBC Manchester.

Latics, who are currently 19th in the League One table, have been in search of a new manager since John Sheridan left in September.




It was reported in some corners on Wednesday that Scholes has had a meeting with Oldham regarding becoming their new manager.

However, it has been claimed that the former midfielder, who is a boyhood fan of Oldham, spoke to the club in an advisory capacity and has no interest of in the managerial vacancy at Boundary Park.
 


Clarence Seedorf has also been linked with taking charge of Oldham, with the ex-Dutch star later distancing himself from the job.

Oldham are currently under the stewardship of interim boss Richie Wellens, who has been credited with showing interest in taking charge of the club on a permanent basis.

The Latics, who have won all of their three matches in all competitions under Wellens, are next up against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
