Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he has been impressed with Dundee’s playing style under Neil McCann, ahead of his side’s meeting with the Dee at Paradise on Saturday.

McCann, who was appointed as an interim boss by Dundee in April, helped the club to avoid relegation from the Scottish Premiership last season.

He left Dundee in May before being reinstated by the Dee as their new manager the following month.

Dundee, who headed into the international break on the back of a 2-1 win over Hearts, have already played Celtic once this season, with the Hoops winning the Scottish League Cup contest 4-0 last month.

But Rodgers insisted that he admires Dundee’s free-flowing style of play under McCann.

“What I’ve been impressed with Neil since he has come in is he is clearly trying to get them to play and to show courage on the ball”, he said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“They open the game fairly well in order to want to get on the ball.

“It seems pretty clear to me how they want to play.

“It doesn’t matter where they play, whether it’s at home or away from home, they want to impose their way of working and playing.

“They obviously had a very good result against Hearts so that will give them the confidence.

“This game like every other game will prove to be a difficult game for us.

“We respect all the opponents we play but we always look to bring our level of performance high which will hopefully get us the three points.”

Celtic, who are yet to lose a domestic game this season, are currently atop the league table with 20 points from eight outings, seven places and 12 points ahead of Dundee.
