Graham Dorrans has superb quality on the ball, former Rangers striker Steven Thompson believes, as he hailed the midfielder's display in the Gers' 3-0 win at St Johnstone tonight.

The former West Brom star ran the show for Pedro Caixinha's men in midfield and even capped off his performance with a superb strike for his side's last goal at McDiarmid Park.

Ex-Rangers man Thompson was left hugely impressed by what he saw from the midfielder and proceeded to laud various aspects of his game.

Thompson thinks Dorrans can handle the football, has a superb range of passing and is always a goal threat.

He said on BBC Sportsound after the goal: "No more than Graham Dorrans deserves. He was unlucky with the shot off the bar, but that was a fantastic finish from him.

"It's been a really accomplished performance from him in the middle of the park tonight."

And after the final whistle, Thompson added: "His quality on the ball is superb, his composure, he's a goal threat.

"His contribution has been magnificent since he joined.

"He just stands out for me like a sore thumb.

"He has a wide range of passing."

Rangers tempted Dorrans back to Scotland from Norwich City in the summer transfer window and the Gers fan is now relishing his time with the Ibrox giants.

The midfielder's displays for Rangers are even leading to him being championed for a Scotland recall in some quarters.
