Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson believes that Gers midfielder Graham Dorrans can work his way back into the Scotland squad.

Dorrans headed back to Scotland in the summer, joining the Gers from English Championship side Norwich City, and in recent weeks he has been in good form for Pedro Caixinha's men.

The midfielder was again on song on Friday night as he scored a superb goal in Rangers' 3-0 win away at St Johnstone.

And Thompson sees no reason why Dorrans should not believe in a return to the international fold with Scotland.

"He absolutely could [get back in the Scotland squad]", Thompson said on BBC Sportsound after the game.

"30 isn't too old and if he continues to put in performances like he has tonight then he certainly should be looked at", he added.

Dorrans made his Scotland bow in 2009 and has only won 12 caps for his country so far.

The midfielder has nailed down a spot in Caixinha's starting eleven this term, making a total of eleven appearances across all competitions and chipping in with an impressive five goals and providing three assists for his team-mates.
