Frank Sinclair feels that Andreas Christensen will be confident he can nail down a spot in the Chelsea side at David Luiz's expense, following the Brazilian's display at Selhurst Park.

Luiz, along with several of his Chelsea team-mates, struggled in the Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace, which they lost 2-1.

Sinclair is backing Christensen to come back into the Chelsea team in midweek when Roma visit Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.

And he feels the young centre-back will be involved in a duel with Luiz to lock down a spot in the Chelsea side at the back.

"If I'm Andreas Christiansen I'm thinking I'm going to get another chance to show what I can do during the week and it's dual between me and David Luiz for that position", Sinclair said on Chelsea TV.

"And if I play well enough, off the back of his performance, I'll stay in the team."

Luiz completed all 90 minutes at Selhurst Park against Roy Hodgson's men, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill being named alongside him in the backline.

Christensen last turned out for Chelsea before the international break in the Blues' home defeat against Manchester City.
